Our Story
Origins is the result of an ongoing story of God’s grace. We consider this Kingdom experiment as a gift from Jesus. We continue to walk forward, believing that as much as we would share in Christ’s sufferings, we also will partake in His Glory.
Here is our story:
Ramin and Brad were both part of thriving church works in Indianapolis and Stillwater, Oklahoma, respectively. Each felt a strong calling toward the culture of Boulder and came to the city within a year of one another to constructively engage the culture with the Good News of Jesus Christ. They initiated missional community life and planted two church communities, Roots and Origins Community. The two church families were running on very parallel tracks and had intentionally partnered on a number of Kingdom-building ventures that served the city of Boulder.
After three years of working the land independently, they began to meet regularly and experience a like-mindedness that led them to consider the unthinkable: two church communities merging into one body. A period of discernment was entered into, relationships were formed, and at the end of 12 months, we believed God was calling us to unify to form one new community. So we did and became Origins Church.
The road has been difficult and beautiful all at the same time. We have welcomed families, marriages, many babies and new members to God’s family. We have served, worshipped, partied and lived together. We have also mourned, processed death, walked through dark valleys and suffered together. If it was easy, we would have quit long ago! At the end of the day we are simply trying to love people and love God with all of our hearts. We believe that we are a part of the Universal Church of Jesus, and a part of His Body here in Boulder.
We believe that unity is the heartbeat of God, that Jesus was serious when He prayed to the Father that His people would be one. We agree with Jesus that through our oneness, the world sees and experiences the ultimate picture of the eternal love of our Triune God.
