Missions and Social Justice

We are a community compelled by the life and love of Jesus as He walked on the earth, bringing about justice and good news for the poor and oppressed. We strive to live out of His example, first in our own neighborhoods and city, and then extending out into the world.

ESL Classes

In conjunction with Boulder Housing Partners and Intercambio, we are teaching an ESL class and providing childcare for the students on Tuesday evenings from 6 to 7:30. We are thrilled to get to know these families better and provide an opportunity for them to be able to learn English. We are looking for volunteers who would like to help teach or provide childcare.

Walnut Place

It is our joy to serve the residents of Walnut Place through lunches, holiday parties, and we have even remodeled their common living spaces. Walnut Place is an affordable housing facility for the disabled and elderly. We have been visiting and building relationships there for over 4 years now.

Community Table

Community Table is a coordination of the Carriage House (www.bouldercarriagehouse.org) and churches in our community to feed the homeless on every weeknight. Origins is responsible for supplying the volunteers on the 2nd Friday of every month from 4 to 7pm, so mark your calendars. Responsibilities include meal prep, serving and clean-up. This is a wonderful way to serve the needy of our community and it is truly a blessing to interact and get to know them. If you would like to volunteer, please contact Greg Edwards at gedwards@fireweed.org and let him know if you would like to come from 4 to 5:30pm or 5:30 to 7pm. We hope to see you there!

iEmpathize

We are privileged to support and partner with iEmpathize, an Arts and Advocacy nonprofit that creates opportunities for people to explore and engage in issues of injustice.  Www.iEmpathize.Org.
